Some 13 year old kids have a well developed personality and cannot be habilitated let alone rehabilitated. He appears to be one of them. Instead of putting him away forever at great expense I suggest he be placed in an adult prison for as long as he lasts.
I would think that at 13 one would know that murder is wrong. While a tragic story, I don't really feel much sympathy for the kid.
THIS
I remember when I was a young teenager (early 90s) and I started hearing about the controversies with kids being too young to be tried for murder. Back then, in school, with my friends and co-classmates I knew the idea was bull****. A thirteen year old kid knows that taking a hatchet to anyone is going to kill them.
They know it's wrong and should be locked up, if they DON'T know that it's wrong then they should definitely be locked up!
WTF. Let em rot. It appears according to media that our teenagers are getting more murderously violent with each day. Tomorrow I expect to read 12 year old Asian American girls involved in a cannibalism attack.
I don't even want to think about what's happened to that kid over time to make him capable of this. Monsters are made, not born. He'd have to be so damaged as a human being (and dangerous) that where do you put him except for prison?
Seems excessive to me. A 13 year old is barely into adolescence. His brain is not fully developed yet. And nobody at 13 is a hardened career criminal. Although I agree not everyone can be, this seems like a good example of someone who really could be rehabilitated.
Really? LOL, that's funny. When I was 13, I knew the difference between right & wrong. You wouldn't see me bludgeoning my grandma to death. Personally, I think this "too young" argument is BS. Toss him in jail forever. See ya!

Yep. My 10 year old knows this for cryin' out loud!
Capital punishment in Wisconsin was abolished in 1853.
Darn shame.
