Sky News, Reuters, the UK press & the AP are all reporting a possible chemical weapon attack on suburbs near Damascus

Syrian Rebels Accuse Government of Chemical Attack - NY Times

Sky News is probably the best coverage in this part of the world.
Syrian Rebels: '1,300 Killed In Gas Attack' - SKY News
Quote:
More than 1,300 people have been killed in a chemical weapons attack near Damascus, according to Syria's main opposition group.

The National Coalition claims toxic gas was used by President Bashar al Assad's forces during a bombardment of rebel-held areas outside the Syrian capital.

It described the attack as a "coup de grace that kills all hopes for a political solution in Syria".

The government said the claims were "totally false" and the international news organisations reporting them were "implicated in the shedding of Syrian blood and support terrorism".
The Russian and Syrian Government theory is that UN Inspectors are in the country right now and they would never attack people while they are there. The UN Inspector Team has announced they cannot investigate this latest accusation without a request from a member of the UN Security council. Apparently this happened in the middle of the night - horrible if true.

The UK and France are in the process of getting that request ready.

(warning- lot of children that appear dead but not nearly as graphic as the UK press.)

Wasn't Obama supposed to create world peace just by being President?

Well one could have gotten the same results in that sky news vido by tossing some tear gas into that little crowd. I don't believe much of anything coming out of either side in the Syrian mess. Nothing but propoganda videos put out all the time. "Rebels" want a no fly zone imposed like they got in Libya to pave the way for em.

Well OK, if you insist - I will post the UK News that can give you more pictures to "analyze".

If true, it would represent the worst known use of chemical weapons since Saddam Hussein gassed thousands of Kurds in the town of Halabja in 1988

Don't worry about any US "No fly Zone" - that's not happening and Dempsey said so again today, as reported by the Associated Press.

DEMPSEY: SYRIAN REBELS WOULDN'T BACK US INTERESTS
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is opposed to even limited U.S. military intervention in Syria because it believes rebels fighting the Assad regime wouldn't support American interests if they were to seize power right now, according to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Effectively ruling out U.S. cruise missile attacks and other options that wouldn't require U.S. troops on the ground, Gen. Martin Dempsey said in a letter to a congressman that the military is clearly capable of taking out Syrian President Bashar Assad's air force and shifting the balance of the Arab country's 2½-year war back toward the armed opposition.

Like I said I don't believe either side int hat mess. Propaganda is put out left and right all the time. You believe it if you want. I will await confirmation if it ever comes.

There is so much propaganda and lies coming out of that part of the world that nothing can be believed no matter what source it comes from. There have been plain out lies put out like supposed dead civilians that were acting in front of the camera to create the illusion.

Lots of videos hitting the web. No visible wounds that I can see. One of a child having convulsions, foaming at the mouth and struggling to breathe, very hard to watch.

Hard to know what to believe as so much propaganda has been put out by both sides. Well, the UN can take care of it if they wish. None of our business.

In Syria it would be hard to determine which set of terrorists are responsible, the Govt version, one of the Rebel versions or one of the foreign versions.

All the players in Syria have access to chemical weapons.
How will the UN determine just which sides used them is the 64K question.
