Republicans failed to uphold the “replace” portion of the “repeal-and-replace” pledge the party made soon after the ACA was passed in 2010:

He is correct, and their lack of alternative new ideas made the difference b/w a message that could have resonated beyond their base and the limited appeal solely within the base they obtained.

The GOP have a lot of alternatives to replace Obamacare... the problem is they are not unified to one legislation to replace it... problem would be solved if FIRST, they can repeal... why waste the effort when its not going to be repealed for the next four years cause Obama is still going to be president... a lot can change between now and then and to pigeon-hole yourself to one solution is going to look bad when you do another when it comes time... Gingrich should grow a brain... think about it a little bit before talking about it...

Gingrich is spot on, and unfortunately few have the courage to speak the truth. Had replace been on the table, ACA may not have passed.

The reason why the RWNJs in Congress don't have an alternative to ACA is because, despite Gingrich's implication, their objections are driven by avarice, rather than defensible integrity. They oppose the individual mandate, but it exists because of the Guaranteed Issue provision, which some RWNJs go out of their way to assure people will not be taken away, and some ridiculously misinformed or outright lying RWNJs erroneously claim existed prior to ACA. The Republicans' quandary is that ACA is the most right-wing approach possible, that satisfies the bare minimum set of standards in the eyes of the American people. Their own constituents support them only because they've been duped into thinking that there is a free lunch somewhere, that this "bare minimum" could somehow be brought about while still allowing them to afford that extra television or that more luxurious vacation, when the reality is that these bare minimums, which the vast majority of Americans understand as such, have to be paid for.

Funny, in the 1990s Gingrich was a proponent of the individual mandate. The guy speaks out of both sides of his mouth.

Proving a Gingrich presidency would be as awful as this Obama one.

As if there is a real difference between the two partys lol

The Founders should have included a separation of healthcare and state in the Constitution.

Getting government out of healthcare completely would solve the entire mess overnight. And the poor would be the biggest beneficiaries.
