Assuming there are zillions of inhabited planets out there in the universe, I wonder if some of those civilizations have already found ways to travel much faster. If not, it would be kind of sad, lots of interesting beings out there, but separated forever by stupid space

You must be referring to that which is between the ears of many humanoids.

Regarding the economic system, it would probably have to be quite "socialist" at the beginning, I mean, there would be nothing to trade, no products, yet. People would have to work together to survive, if they want to or not.

Space exploration has been conducted by government agencies, not private industry. Therefore, IF a nation is ever able to explore and colonize space (unless the missions are funded and manned by several nations), that nation will claim the rights and soveriegnty to any lands found.
So why are we exploring space right now?

Who knows maybe Planet Earth II inhabitants will be more advanced and will be there waiting for our arrival and blow us the hell up. If I was one of the leaders and observed the humans on earth I would support them not touching the ground with their feet. I mean why would I want a bunch of earthlings f**** up my planet.

Thank you for your suggestion to watch Evacuate Earth, and you are right it answers a lot of questions asked in the forum but has intelectual content. The challenge of such a project are enormous and after watching I think it could go either way of us pulling it off. If anyone is really interested in this subject I suggest they watch the movie, I rate it

Nice fantasy discussion, but it'll never happen in our lifetimes.
We'd need light speed transport and the best we have is a space shuttle that travels about 17,000 m.p.h. That's not even remotely close to the speed of light (671,000,000 m.p.h.).
The Voyager 1 spacecraft was launched 35 years ago and it took about 12 years just to get out of the solar system. Today it still hasn't found anything very interesting.
