It may not be your job to speak out against it, but you should DEMAND that influential Black leaders do exactly that.
Mr Obama would be a good starting place. Unfortunately, he doesn't actually care. He plays into the race-baiting the same as Jesse Jackson or All Sharpton.
The black community at large tend to excuse their thugs and lowlifes.
White people do not defend thugs and mass murderers.
I see the excuses coming from both sides. You have the Big Perm Sharptons and Messy Jesse Jackson claiming young people have nothing to do. Then you have the Pill Limpball and Freak O'Reilly blaming single households. Both are excuses for lack of respect or common sense.
This is a response I wrote in another thread (since locked) touching upon this issue. There are fundamental cultural problems inherent to blacks, arabs, and several other groups, which can be witnessed in places like africa, the mideast and central/south america. That said, this OP is about blacks, so here was my response:
"Culture.
Blacks cannot decide what they want - or who they want to be, and until they do they will continue to have difficulties in Western countries. It is their cultural contradictions that is impeding their advancement.
They often dress gangsta, or differently to stand apart - but get upset when treated differently based upon appearance.
They mock other blacks who are serious about school by saying they are acting "white", or are "oreos," and reject the concepts of education and hard work - but get angry when society doesn't reward them even though they are unwilling to work hard or study. The want to be "different" from the rest of americans - but are unwilling to accept the consequences of doing so; ostracization, difficulty finding jobs, etc.
Black culture is one of a higher level of violence generally speaking than white culture, so when the first two situations I mentioned manifest themselves, they will resort to crime rather than introspection about themselves and why other groups like asians - who also appear physically different yet have embraced in their culture the aspects of white culture that will help them succeed (education and hard work) - have succeeded.
Until blacks as a group decide which path they want to choose, outsider - but treated as such - or begin to finally embrace "white" culture - meaning education is important and to be respected, hard work is necessary, they will spend their future decades in this purgatory as americans, but not truly integrated into the country's fabric.
Physically and mentally, blacks are no different and are just as capable of achievement as any other group - they simply have not yet decided how they want to operate as a group; as part of america or separate."
Wait Why should my path as you state or my fate be dependent on "a group". My birth certificated lists one name, mine. My childrens birth certificate list one mother and one father. Each individual is responsible for their own path to success or failure.
Why is it that when a white person shoots up a school, whites are not expected to carry the burden for that one individual, however when a black person kills someone, we are all lumped as one as if we ALL committed the murder?

Seems to me, some days, that we have an entire nation of people who profess " it's not my job" and point the finger elsewhere. Culture can only be changed one individual at a time. You could make a difference in one kid's life and change the world. I sincerely hope we can all do so, one kid at a time.
Because the white guy has short hair and a back pack that makes him not scary? Please, he could be a skin-head and the dred-heads could be peaceful weed smoking rastafarians.
For all I know that white guy could have a bomb in that book-bag or a gun. Maybe he is planning on shooting up the movie theater...a school...or a bunch of innocent women working out at the local fitness club.
Okay, then which one would Jesse Jackson rather see behind him in a dark alley at night?
So Tavis, Smiley, and Sharpton need to be shouted down by the "black community" but Limbaugh, Hannity, and all the rest of the Fox news/ talk radio idiots are allowed to exercise their right to freedom of speech? Are they a reflection of the entire white community? Do they represent you?
Yes, why aren't white people collectively holding their heads and feeling bad about people like Snowden, Assange, or Manning?
White privilege means you are always judged as an individual but black people and other minorities are always lumped together as a group.
This is why many white people are pro-stop & frisk in NYC. They want to be judged as individuals but never extend that "courtesy" to any other racial/ethnic groups.
