I hope he gets reimbursed for all the costs incurred to remain in hiding away from home and for his bodyguards. He should also be reimbursed for the value of his 9mm handgun that has yet to be returned.
Would you say the same if YOU were acquitted after being falsely accused?
The law doesn't differentiate between those whose acquittals are popular and those whose aren't. If the state can't prove your guilt, they can be made to reimburse certain expenses you had to pay to defend yourself.

He was already reimbursed for his living expenses and security.
Now, the attorneys say they need another $120,000 to give Zimmerman a good defense, or a minimum of $75,000 to give him a “fighting chance.” As for where the money went, the defense’s website stated in an update posted in January that the donations were used to pay Zimmerman’s bail bond of $95,000, living expenses of $61,747.54 and security costs of $56,100.
Also, how can Zimmerman sue for his attorney fees when it was the suckers who donated to his defense/living expenses/security fund who paid for his defense?
If he gets that money back, does he then get to pocket it?

geez. try reading the opening post.

Mark O'Mara told the Orlando Sentinel Monday night that because Zimmerman was acquitted, state law requires Florida to pay all his legal costs, minus the fee that goes to his lawyers.
I think everybody who is found innocent, be it criminal or civil, should counter-sue the person/entity who brought the charges. Better yet, make it automatic. You sue me, you lose, you automatically pay my attorney fees.
That would put a stop to a lot of frivilous lawsuits.
I don't think so. That would have the effect of further unbalancing the legal system towards the wealthy.
It is already a known and widely practiced tactic for wealthy companies to step on smaller companies and individuals with the knowledge that they have the resources to fund an extended legal battle while their opponents do not.
Your idea would simply enhance that. If you have less resources than the person you intend to get into a legal battle with, then you either have know 100% that you will win or else you're better off cutting your losses and letting them get away with whatever they did.
How much of the money that was donated did go to the legal costs other than his attorneys?
Do you think the expert witnesses were working for free? Who paid for their time, travel, and expenses?
Hint: it wasn't Zimmerman.
And......if he gets reimbursed for money that didn't even come out of his own pocket but came from the idiots who donated their hard earned money to him so he could spend $10,000 a month for a roof over his head and for food and to pay for his "legal costs," wouldn't that tick you off a little - you know, if you had sent him money, which we all know you wouldn't have been stupid enough to do.
Only way this happens is lawyers agree to this. Ain't no chance in h*ll lawyers agree to this unless its other people's money. Lawyers will claim big corporations have big pockets and this discourages the little guys from suing.
Thats pretty much the problem. I hold a judgment against a guy for nearly $500K, it cost me $30K in legal fees..
I've seen a total of about $500 from the defendant. NO chance in the world a lawyer would want to seek money from someone who wont pay even if they lose.
