Did Bobby Riggs throw the match against Billy Jean King?
He was a 55 year old ex tennis champ. She was 29 and just won Wimbledon. If he had won then I'd believe the match was thrown.

He had just beaten the crap out of the number one ranked female tennis player in the World three months earlier. Plus he came into the match a fat slob for a male tennis player. Had he been training everyday between matches for the three months King would have been disgraced. Again lots of suspect behavior and the Mob world aint talking so.....

I recall him expressing a new payday after he beat King by getting Chris Evert to play him. His failure to beat King lost that opportunity.

Tennis is a pretty physical sport, so normally a match between a male and a female is a mismatch.

The Women's Olympic Hockey team practiced against Minnesota boys A Bantam teams (top boys but only up to 14 years old) and usually lost. They did it to prepare for the game at much higher speeds.

I love girls hockey and what it does for young girls with their confidence ect, but they are no match for boys competitively and the same goes with tennis. Brute power trumps women's finesse and intelligence.

I believe John McEnroe is now 54 or 55 and I would bet on him every time in a match against Serena Williams, having watched him for years on the Master's circuit. There is a huge disparity between the abilities of male and female athletes in most sports, and even an age disparity as great as that cannot overcome it.

I remember Chris Evert being asked, when she was ranked #1, whether a female tennis player could beat a male tennis player, and she responded that the #1 female player could not beat the #500 ranked male tennis player.

It's two totally different games. Serena Williams was asked how she would fare against Andy Murray, and she replied "I'd lose 6-0, 6-0 in about 20 minutes."

Back in the day, the women's game was all about long, drawn-out points, not power. Even BJK had mediocre power.

So true. McEnroe didn't have a big power game, but he was quite clever with the racket. And of course, the outbursts were legendary. I'm glad I had the chance to watch him in his prime.

Best hands at the net in the history of the game. I actually enjoy watching the Master's circuit more because these are the guys I grew up watching and many of them still play really good tennis. McEnroe is so good, that you will see him, in his fifties, beat some of the recently retired players. I'm talking guys still in their thirties or early forties.

What do you expect from P&OC.
If a woman wins against a man, it was fixed.
If she were a black woman, it would have been doubly fixed.
Maybe, since she is a lesbian, it's either half or one-and-a-half times fixed.
I'm sure someone will clarify.

P&OC logic.
