It's a little late for that sentiment.
We've been directly involved in Syria since 2011.
CIA covert operations funded by us. Revealed thanks to wikileaks.

As for more Arab sympathy, to be frank it hasn't helped against the US in the last decade, a lot to loose for little gain.

I would offer another possibility, the Syrian government staged the attack in a effort to make it look like someone is trying to frame them (as in we would be nuts to do it, see how far the rebels will go).

However all the above is FAR to much of a risk for small gain, its nearly certainly the rebels, the Assad regime easily have the most to loose.
Can we get past this nonsense already?

1) both the US and israel have already come public about electronic intercepts captured from syrian government officials that shows they are responsible for the attacks. Read something besides MSNBC and you might learn something.

2) only the syrian regime - NOT THE REBELS - have the types and quantities of rockets to have implemented an attack on multiple areas simultaneously of Damascus, sustained for several hours. That is thousands of rockets and large-scale mortar rounds modified to carry incendiary materials, not conventional explosives. The rebels DO NOT HAVE THESE TYPES of rockets, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

3) as for motivation, how much intelligence does it take to grasp that in almost 3 YEARS of slaughtering its citizens, with multiple large-scale massacres at houla, deraa, baniya, and latakia, amongst other places - the West has done NOTHING. Why would assad be concerned whether the UN was having its annual barbecue in syria while it conducts attacks like this when the world has sat on its hands all this time? They JUST DON'T CARE . Assad has the backing of 2/5 of the UNSC, which provides him infinite political cover for doing what he wants. There is no doubt in my mind that putin and iran gave him the go-ahead to conduct these types of attacks, since he has been implementing ever larger chemical attacks for months, none of which received a Western response.

And here you are trusting this corrupt government without actually seeing the evidence.

The Pentagon seems to believe the American public are utterly stupid and don't have any ability to think for themselves, lets hope this time they are proven wrong.
The Syrian military does not need to resort to chemical weapons, they have proven that they can kill 100,000 civilians with conventional weapons. There does not seem to be any tactical advantage for the military to use chemical weapons.

BTW, we are not even being told what chemical weapons were used, nor how they were delivered. We are only being fed rudimentary information and asked to use our imaginations to fill in the blanks.

There is no pressing immediate threat here, we have plenty of time to decide what to do, once we know for sure what the truth is.

Watch the Obama admin, if they are all rush-rush-rush, hurry-hurry-hurry, now-now-now, then we should all be smelling a rat, and do our best to put the brakes on this new escalation in violence.

The rebels are controlled by terrorist regimes.

Back Assad.

A Dictator is easier to deal with than religious fanatics.

No, reality is what makes facts factual. I think you may not understand what a fact is.

Unlike you, I get my news almost exclusively from the foreign press, and the israelis had already publicly disclosed having electronically captured high level regime officers admitting culpability by the time john kerry - who i would not trust to admit humans breathe - had made his affirmation statements.

Where the hell do people come up with this nonsense? How many soldiers on your own side are killed to kill off an enemy? Chem weapons means large-scale killing without endangering your own troops, and does not deplete your stocks of conventional weapons. Why do you think these weapons were created, because they are LESS effective than conventional?

Read the news, its all there for those willing to look...

So fine, wait 2 weeks for the UN team to confirm what we already know, and give assad time to shore up his defenses, brilliant strategy.

Yes, because you're such a fantastic military strategist that you have a far superior plan waiting to be implemented

And what would you call iran and russia?

They are far more problematic than a few thousand jihadists armed with ak47s. I'd rather deal with and crush iran and stop its much more dangerous state terrorism than al qaeda, who is a poodle in comparison.

No thanks, I'd rather support the (mostly) indigenous syrian rebels fighting for their freedom from a 40-year inherited assad kingdom in their time of need, even if because of our awful president, we are so late to the game. Especially if it hurts iran and hezbollah.
