There's a good chance that Hasan will receive the military death penalty for his murderous rampage at Fort Hood. Since this administration has refused to classify this as a terrorist act,...and given the fact that Obama has to sign off on a military death penalty verdict,...how likely is it that Obama might commute the sentence to life without parole. Obama has nothing to lose since he is in his final years as POTUS.

Is there a down side for Obama if he chooses to commute the sentence?

I will be very surprised if he receives the death penalty. Everyone knows the guy is a terrorist. The workplace violence thing was a legal decision. They know he's a terrorist and if they execute him he will be a martyr. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty confident he's going to spend life in jail rather than be executed.

There's always the option for promotion up to and including Army Chief of Staff.

I hope he burns in hell.

As for the well-spoken and clean one, he will dither around until the decision is taken away from him.

Nidal will be in military side of Leavenworth, life will suck for him. I hope he gets life because he wants to be a martyr. I believe Texas can try him on death penalty he murdered a civilian.

In the good 'ol days... he would have been hung at sunrise...the day after the atrocity.

Absolutely Nothing.

Should be no dilemma at all.

He dies he's a martyr in his own mind.

They should simply make him disappear with no publicity over what his fate is.

The panel in the case is now deliberating what the sentence will be.

I would prefer they invoke the Pershing Doctrine.

See: Hasan found guilty on all counts

So much for being a "martyr", or others being encouraged to follow this slimeball's lead.
