The ban will largely affect antiquated, World War II-era weapons that, while still deadly, rarely turn up at crime scenes, leaving some to question whether the new policy is much ado about nothing.

Quote:
"Banning these rifles because of their use in quote-unquote crimes is like banning Model Ts because so many of them are being used as getaway cars in bank robberies," said Ed Woods, a 47-year-old from the Chico area of northern California.

Even though it accomplishes nothing they can say they did something and it makes the moonbat sheeple all warm and fuzzy inside because Barry did something.

Not really, it is just a way to act like they are moving forward on better gun control without being able to do much. If anything, it sounds more like a beginning campaign speech for the 2014 Congress election.

Of course they are coming. Desperados will do anything to keep retain their grip on power.
If it were about safety, they would be talking about how individual gun ownership lessens crime.

Quotes from the article you linked to:

Quote:
Biden renewed a pledge from him and the president to seek legislative fixes to keep guns from those who shouldn't have them...
and

Quote:
From now on, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms.
and

Quote:
The Obama administration is also proposing to close a loophole that it says allows felons and other ineligible gun purchasers to skirt the law by registering certain guns to a corporation or trust. The new rule would require people associated with those entities, like beneficiaries and trustees, to undergo the same type of fingerprint-based background checks before the corporation can register those guns.
Seems to me that rational people would favor keeping guns out of the hands of felons and others (like those with mental illnesses), and that rational people would favor keeping military-grade weapons out of the hands of all but the military.

It also seems to me that such steps will drive the right wing nut jobs absolutely apesh*t. 'Course, so many things do that these days.

Seems to me that rational people understand that feel good laws like this will only keep guns out of the hands of good people.

Gun haters are peeing thier pants with glee and joy right now....

Even though they have not a single clue that this does nothing to hurt the person who is already a criminal....

I would be much more impressed if Obama said "We're going to start taking a closer look at the failings of the mental health system in the US."

But then again, that might explain Biden.

Interesting, do you have proof or is this just in your fantasy world? I am pretty sure I just called this nothing more than political campaigning.

Just like Reefer Madness dumbdown the masses with total lies of government propaganda via the media and the public eats it up....
Our government is in fear of the people they took an oath to defend because people are waking up to their unconstitutional ways.
Truth & Americanism is on the rebound and they can't handle the truth... we have too many freedoms & they don't like it.If the Boston Tea Party participants and our Founding Fathers are viewed today as extremists then I am a extremist....
