From this graph at Gallup, president Obama's approval rating is about the same as other most recent presidents at about the same period in time, around 49 to 51 percent, so, with that being said, Obama basically is no worse or better than presidents before him.

Presidential Job Approval Center

Being that Obama is the first black to be elected twice to the highest office, he has stayed pretty much above the fray from the haters.

Too bad Obama's positions and ideas almost always are in direct opposition the what the American public wants.

Really?

Have you seen the polls on his idea to attack Syria?

When Obamacare was passed, the majority of the American public was opposed to it.

His approval was at 43% the last I looked.

Therefore, I would say at least (being generous) 50% would agree.

Does "consistently taking the superior position" include:

A) Voting against 'the surge' in Iraq that made it possible for Iraqi elections and American troop withdrawals

B) Backing Syria's Assad as a "reformer" when he was a Senator

6/10 is still a fraction.

Drones are a gateway to killing humans and the addiction can only be satisfied with more intense killing.Bombing people will make Obama more comfortable as the new high replaces the old high. The guy loves ordering killings and it will only get worse as time goes on.

Lexus, your standards are mighty, mighty low. The worst recovery in over six decades has pounded minorities, the young, and the aging worse than everybody else. Twice before, we came back from 10% unemployment; we also came back from an even worse housing crash and slump in auto sales, not to mention a trillion-dollar disaster that started in the housing finance arena. We've had worse problems but NEVER a weaker recovery from our problems.

Economic performance? Worst since Jimmy Carter. Standards of governance? Worst since Richard Nixon. If by "dignified, versatile, effective" you mean "back-alley, inconsistent, ineffective" then you are absolutely right.

I read that CNN is censoring anti Obama posts as it Reddit and Disqus. It seems TPTB are awfully worried about growing anti involvement public sentiment regarding Syria and a lack of faith and confidence in the administration in general.
I also liked that Kerry used a false photo claiming it to be from Syria when it was from Iraq a decade ago. Stupidity or just dishonesty on his part?
