Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Sunday renewed his call to reinstate the draft, arguing a vote should be held on mandatory military service before any decision is taken to launch strikes against Syria.
“I truly believe we should have a National Draft Act before the Congress acts,” Rangel told MSNBC.
Rangel, a decorated veteran of the Korean War, has for several years introduced legislation to bring back the draft and earlier this, for the first time, advocated that women should be included.
The New York lawmaker said the burden of war unfairly falls on lower-income Americans.
“They are not in the Hamptons. They are not in the wealthy neighborhoods,” he said.
Good idea Charlie. Why not? There's a bunch of college graduates with nothing else to do in the malaise of the Obama economy. Let's draft 'em and send them off to WWlll, that'll give them something to do.
Rangel makes a lot of sense, this should be the standard of any military conflict we decide to get involved. We should go to war as a nation, not the 1% along with some overpaid contractors.
If it's that much of a threat to our nation then start a draft, otherwise we do absolutely nothing.

and allow our so-called leaders to fight also.
I don't think Charlie's too old, do you?
they are headed over there now, so hop on Charlie:
The U.S. Navy doubled its presence in the eastern Mediterranean over the past week, effectively adding two destroyers to the three that generally patrol the region. The five destroyers are carrying a combined load of about 200 Tomahawk missiles, officials say.
Given the situation in Syria, U.S. military officials decided to reroute the Nimitz and send it west toward the Red Sea, and possibly the Mediterranean, officials said.
The Navy has also sent the USS San Antonio, an amphibious ship with 300 Marines and extensive communications equipment on board, to join the five destroyers, diverting it from a previously scheduled mission that would have taken it farther west.
