By what measure are we one the richest countries in the world? It's not like we are number 1.

Min wage? It's in the top 5 adjusted for PPP.

GDP? The EU has a bigger GDP and China will surpass us soon.
Median income? We are in the top 5.
Median wealth? We are #27, which is pathetic, but that is where we stand.
Safety nets? Ours is relatively weak compared to OECD members, but we have weaker immigration rules. Just try to move to Sweden.

You discover reality - and boy will it be an amazing surprise when you do.

You actually think Atlas Shrugged is based in any kind of reality? Keep stroking to the myth that makes you think your a maker over a taker. Jesus, there are alot of 50 year olds who think like douchy 15 year olds. Who knew?

No not #1 but up there probably would be higher if not for being in a recession. Min wage is higher because cost of living is higher here then many other places in the world. Comparing min wages between countries is useless because no countries have the same costs of housing, food, transportation.

So is welfare.

So is Social Security.

So is medicare.

So is every "gimmee" you want.

It takes from the producers and gives to the consumers of wealth.

Atlas Shrugged was about what happens when the producers finally give up.

Without the "takers," the "producers" would have ZERO wealth. Is the CEO of McDonald's responsible for the wealth of the company? Of course not. Those "takers" who work the drive through windows are. Without them, the entire company comes crashing down because there wouldn't be anybody to do actual work that creates profit.

What you guys seem to have forgotten is that a millionaire, or whomever, does not earn that million, typically, through their own blood, sweat and tears. It is earned by skimming off of the wages and work of others.

PPP stands for purchasing power parity which tries to equalize cost of living differences between countries. It isn't perfect as the basket of goods available in the USA is different than in the UK, but it is the best we have.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged . One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Motivation... is 95% of it.

Yes, it is based absolutely rock solid on reality.

Your ignorance of reality doesn't make your criticism true.

Wow... Spoken as a true communist.

If you'd like, I'd love to debate your nonsense with you... but for this thread's sake... I'll just say "You have not one iota of knowledge about any of this stuff".
