The minimum wage should rise along with the cost of living..... if it was at the 1978 level and raised according to this standard, it would be like $12 per hour now.....
Many workers are borderline slaves today
It's amazing how wonderfully oblivious to this fact so many people choose to be.
There should be no minimum wage for workers or business owners. Government has no right to tell me what to pay employees.
Thank God most people don't see it that way.
Imagine how screwed up the economy would be if all employers paid employees as little as they would probably like to. People making 2-3 bucks an hour, costs on just about everything going through the roof just so that the companies that are still able to do business can stay in business.

What makes you think people would work for $2-3? Illegals want at least $8/hr to clean, which is only .25 lower than min wage where I am and 99% of people make more than min wage.
Waiters and waitresses make $2.15/hr, but they won't stay unless they make enough in tips.

The post was in response to a ridiculous hypothetical statement that there should be no minimum wage.
In answer to your question I remind you that the current minimum wage is not enough to live off of, so why would anyone work for minimum wage today? Because they have to and that's why businesses can get away with it today and why they would get away with it in this hypothetical.
Every human being has the right to quality food, medicine, water, shelter, and clothing.
No, you have the opportunity to go out and earn those as best you can. You may need to live in a group to afford shelter. There is no right to be given a life on my nickel.
All things a man needs occur naturally in the world. That goes for ideas too. Brain synapses in a man's head are a result of the natural order of life.
Like I said, I've never heard of someone patenting a fart.

Perhaps you should move to country where this doesn't happen then......
Fortunately, there is a safety net present in this country (not as big as is needed though) so that people who fall on hard times can have help in an emergency

Nickel?
What's that?
One of those arbitrary elements extracted from the earth?

Government has no rights. We are supposed to loan them our rights.
