Rocco: "Great job GOP. I can see how hard you're working to attract black voters. "

I do want to vote for a republican in the 2016 election but come on, you're not going to earn my vote by doing things like this. The MLK ceremony would have been a great way for the GOP to say: We're a new party and it's a new day. They blew it.

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele blasted Republican congressional leaders as “boneheaded” for declining invitations to speak at Wednesday’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, while also criticizing the event’s organizers for not offering a speaking slot to Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC.), the nation’s only black senator. Read More Here.

If they really wanted the GOP to attend they should have invited them earlier than 10 days ago.
Political posturing to say the least.

I'm sure elected officials have their calendars booked and need time to arrange attendance.
And I'm sure then need more than 10 days notice.

And many of them did local events in their own communities.

Just more fodder propaganda to keep Americans divided.

Yup an opportunity missed especially given the poor performance by our POSTUS. Jeb Bush could have knocked one out of the park. Could have made some big headlines with the right speech tieing in the current POSTUS missteps on race relations and the glaring absence of Senator Scott to King's Vision.

Keep spinning! I'm sure no one in the entire GOP had any idea that Aug. 28 was an anniversary of some important national event or something.

As for Sen. Scott, why should a new senator, who was appointed and not elected, be invited to speak? The leadership of the GOP was asked as was appropriate. They punted. You guys can spin this any way you want, but the GOP just doubled down on their race position as far as anyone outside your echo chamber can tell.

The GOP isn't losing the black vote because of our reprehensible behavior! It's only because blacks want the free phones that Obama hands out!

Senators shouldn't be elected anyway. We need to go back to the way it is supposed to be.
