Good enough to use, good enough to pay for.

It was the movie/recording industry's decision to digitalize all their content. They should have to deal with the consequences.

You can't legally invite 100 people to your house to watch a movie that you bought. Technically you need to get permission from the copyright holder before showing to a large group. A group of that size does not fall under 'fair use' jurisdiction of copyright violation. It doesn't matter whether or not you are charging admission.

Digitalizing their content is like leaving their safe door open during public tours and not watching it.

We are supposed to feel sorry for them why?

They are making TONS of money on digital recordings of their material. They are losing a small percentage. People like me, who pays for all the content I use makes them rich.

They want it ALL, their greed is their problem. Who cares if college kids get some stuff for free. It's their cost of doing business. Either that, or put their movies back on film and their music back on vinyl.

It's their choice.

A perfect example of why people should steal all they can from those sharks.

It's like sneaking into a movie theatre without paying but it's only 1/2 full so you didn't take a paying seat and they were showing it anyway....so by that logic, it's not stealing.

Kant law of universal application is applicable here, to see it is ethical to pirate (theft whatever)

If everyone pirated a movie, would the outcome be negative?

I think the evidence is yes. if all persons who were interested in the movie pirated, instead of buying a copy, than the producer would not continue to make movies. No reward.

Legally speaking, that is false impersonation, not identity theft.
