Flac uses lossless compression and is no different than WAV other than smaller files.

WAV >> FLAC >> WAV >> FLAC >> WAV >> FLAC >> WAV...repeat six gazillion times

Your last WAV is identical to the first one. That said I'm not sure what purposely degrading a file has to do with this.

With media? hardly
CRC is incorporated into all modern storage mediums and all standard internet protocols.

It has everything to do with it... it isn't a 1:1 copy if you rip a CD to MP3. Which most people do. Filesharing of audio and video files are transferred, virtually, through compressed formats.

Not really.

Besides, it is a crime either way - stealing or pirating.

everything is still compressed in the filesharing domain.

Now software is a different beast. But cracked application code is NEVER 1:1

Bottom line is you are always getting a compromised copy of whatever is pirated.

No it doesn't...at all..

Because there are variable bit rates of compression..

DESTROYS YOUR ARGUMENT DOESN'T IT?

Compressed doesn't change what it is. It is always illegal.

Let's touch on something else, copyright is also meant to protect the integrity of a work. e.g you can't compromise it such as degrade it and then present it as the original work.

Degradation making it any different is the lamest argument yet in this thread.

That doesn't destroy his argument at all.
