US involvement in the Middle East is all about consistency of supply, keeping prices down and oil producing nations selling oil in the $US.

Any time its necessary to destabilise a Middle East nation (sorry I mean save the people lol) it does have a ripple effect on supply and therefore prices.

This is about control of the Middle East, and continuity of supply, in addition Syria is allied with Iran (4th largest producer). Doesn't take much interruption of supply to push prices higher on the world market supply/demand.
