oh, I am sure a teaching degree is really "difficult." and be honest, most teachers have normal degrees that are viewed as worthless in society. sociology, english, etc. I am not saying they are worthless, but it does not impress employers. why do you bring up inner city public schools?

I'd like to see an actual job announcement bulletin with your claims.

Underpaid compared to what other first world countries pay their teachers.

In comparison, a beginning teacher makes 1/10th of that. Re-rack your brain.
yeah, um, no. teachers here make $50k. your arbitrary faux stock broker doesn't really do much for your argument.

how much do they make a day of work. they don't work all year. several vacations throughout the year. I think they should get incentives if their children succeed. but how do we measure that. if we use a federal standard, then we are screwed. the federal education set the standard so low so that no one is left behind. our school system will continue to suffer as long as the federal government in involved

That isn't true, and the ones I know pull far more hours than my paltry 40/wk at a job that pays nearly six figures. I know some teachers who pull 60-80 hour weeks during the school year easily, and their summers are occupied with mandatory training and workshops.

27 years of teaching experience? so you never moved up? you just did the same job and expected more money? wonder if the lifetime burger flipper keeps getting raises for job stagnation.

The average software engineer does not make near that coming out of college. Look at glassdoor or something.
