He is likely to support Western interests if he can overthrow the Syrian Government.
If he has to gas 1400 of his own people to give the US a "smoking gun" and a "morale reason" that can be sold to the US population then it has to be done.
The American Public need to feel they are "doing good in the world and saving people", they don't want to believe the US is in the middle east to Secure Regional and recourse control, that is not a heroic reason to fight!

At the moment Putin is saying they are waiting to see the Evidence the White house keeps insisting they have, and waiting for the UN final report.
What the hell could be more reasonable than asking to see some evidence?
