China sends landing craft with possibly 1,000 marines to Syria (middle east, soldiers, Obama)

Western naval sources reported Friday that a Chinese landing craft, the Jinggangshan, with a 1,000-strong marine battalion had reached the Red Sea en route for the Mediterranean off Syria. According to DEBKAfile, Beijing has already deployed a number of warships opposite Syria in secret. If the latest report is confirmed, this will be the largest Chinese deployment in the Middle East in its naval history.

Obama should give back the peace prize.

They seem to be wanting to flex their increasing muscle and influence. Unlike many others I see this as a positive. Three or four big players constantly telling the others "no" is better than one that can do whatever they want.

How on Earth do you deploy a number of warships "in secret"??? In this day and age of satellite photography, heat-plume detection, electronic intercepts etc.?

The Brits controlled the seas not too long ago, go look for them now. Cowered in their little island. Obama has seriously degraded our standing in the world. It's a wonder China hasn't forcibly retaken Taiwan already.
