Will it make a difference in any CD posters life if he wrote the word or not? It doesn't matter to me. It isn't like we don't all know that racism exist. And people are capable of doing this stuff.
I do believe the waitress should be punished for posting personal information online.
yes it would make a difference. if it is found that the server wrote the offending word, then she should be fired. if it is found that the guy wrote the offending word, then he owes the server a public apology. another option is that the guy didnt write the word, but his companion did.

Not just fired, but criminally charged. Her (if it was her) actions could get that man killed as nutty as people are these days with this race stuff. At the very least, it would follow him around for a long time.
UPDATE: those who said "hoax" may be proven correct:
Quote:
"... the man accused of writing the offensive word now says he plans to sue the waitress and the Red Lobster chain — and the waitress now says she believes that someone else wrote the racist word on the receipt.
... To make up for her getting stiffed on the tip by an apparent racist, people started sending her money.
In the end, her “tip” totaled $10,749. (Jenkins is pictured above with a check for that amount.)
...he [the customer] and his wife have been subject to threats and harassment since his name went public in connection with the story.
...The handwriting expert found no match between Barnes’ handwriting, seen on a note written by him below, and the writing of whoever wrote the offending term on the receipt.
...Then, a second handwriting analyst, hired by the conservative news web site The Daily Caller, examined the receipt and concluded that Jenkins [the waitress] herself was the perpetrator of a hoax.
...Jenkins denies that she wrote the “N-word” on the receipt herself, but she now says she does not believe that Barnes wrote it either.
Jenkins received an outpouring of sympathy. In fact, that sympathy turned to hard cash. To make up for her getting stiffed on the tip by an apparent racist, people started sending her money.

Well, It's too late now. She ruined someone's life.

yep, where does the guy go to get his reputation back?
as for her "tip" she best hire a good taxman as that $10k is going to put her up a few tax brackets.
