Wow the B-17 is a museum display or a was turned into scrap so are we sending P-51 Mustang's and P-47's to escort the heavies in since B-17's have not been on alert for 50 years.

Heck Canada should get our nukes back with the Dual key and build a Arctic Capable Super Carrier Battle Gropup and build the The ASF-14 Super Tomcat 21 with GE F110-129 engines were to provide a supercruise speed of Mach 1.3 and featured thrust vectoring nozzles and put all avionics from the F-35 JSF II.

I see -- you must be an incredible analyst of Foreign Affairs.

So, Putin announces a sale to Iran that was already written up, more than likely. No doubt part of the give and take between him and the president at last week's G20 get together.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Hope you aren't another one of these who thinks these things just pop up w/o behind the scenes arm wrestling.

I've been watching the "arm wrestling" for 50 years - I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis well. We've done some of that "arm wrestlying for a couple of years now over the S-300. Russia was going to sell it to Syria and then "lost" the paperwork - not sure what Russia got for that. We made "deals" over the nuclear reactor for a couple of years, even going back to the Bush days.

As to some of this bizarre "Obama has Putin in a box" stuff ..... I guess it relates to todays White House briefing on damage control from yesterday's bombshell from Putin.

White House: Russia's 'prestige on the line' in Syria - The Hill

I really "hope" this deal with Putin works out -- we need to get past this Syria thing, but I worry that the Obama Team doesn't really understand that Assad will do whatever it takes to keep power in Syria - he really has no choice. The last thing this country wants is an attack on another country in the Mid-East .... It's equally important that Obama doesn't come out of this business with the world viewing him as a weakling or pushover. He has to show a very stiff spine right now - I think he is now aware of that.

This helps to explain some of the problems - it's from a Obama friendly media
Dazed and Confused -
If your foreign policy has to be rescued by a dictator, you are doing it wrong.

Kerry is headed to Geneva tomorrow for "negotiations with Russia" - no news (as of this minute) out of the UN except that the UN Weapons Inspector report will be ready on Monday. We should know something in a couple of days - point of the thread is that Russia is upping the ante and we seem to be behind the curve. Kerry and Obama don't seem to talk to each other much, that's a problem.

Well, we are probably 10 years beyond that technology and Russia knows it. All political grandstanding.
