This bill would bring in millions of low-skilled people to compete with the already glutted job market. For politicians, it's a vote grab, and for companies, it's a way to lower wages for all skill levels.
That's right. It's not the H1-B you need to worry about but the W Visa guest worker program.
Those are low skill jobs. The first year will be limited to 20K but that cap will increase each year.
A new labor dept will be formed within the Immigration Dept to deal with these foreign workers.

The servants, housekeepers, nannies and gardeners at the homes of upper management.

A generation or two ago, they employed blacks in those positions. Now that's taboo.

There is a new W Visa for low skill workers to come here and legally work. These would be your maids, waitresses and retail workers. These W Visa holders can also bring their spouse and children here.
This is called the guest worker program. Employers will get the added benefit of not having to pay some employer related taxes (FICA) and they don't count towards Obamacare mandates.

Advocates of guest workers include hotels, restaurants and construction.

Such workers would be given a pathway to citizenship.

One would think it would make more sense to give these jobs to people on welfare.

This makes me so angry! Every year technology and the global economy claim more jobs, yet these companies complain that there isn't enough talent in this country to compete on a global level. I just don't believe that. What do you think?
They don't give a damn about the American worker because they can pay a foreigner less to do the same job. It's all about greed to them. There is no shortage of decent American workers just a desire to increase their profits with cheap, foreign workers. How can they with a straight face claim otherwise when they continue to lay off American workers by the thousands?

If they are low paying jobs and they have families giving them citizenship will add them to the welfare rolls.

I do believe the house of representatives swiftly tosses this bill in the trash can. Of course, thousands of entitled illegals showed up to throw a pity party after the "will of the people" was acknowledged (for once ).

Well said, exactly and the cycle lives on.

I don't know about friends being laid off, but as of recent, their full time hours have been put down to 27 28 hours, imagine that. Wonder why. A lot of businesses right now are making full time employees part-timers.

You cannot make it on part time employment, if this is your only source of income.

WTF happened with jobs, i remember on my tapes of Obama from 2008 and 2009 that there would be jobs a plenty for americans. That is not the case of what happened.

Obama wanted to transform the country, but unfortunately he came into office during a deep recession and his policies have hurt instead. He should have focused on the economy before creating a new entitlement. He thought he could go down in history with Roosevelt and Johnson, but it was the wrong time.

Economics is not his strongpoint. He's a community activist. Social issues is his forte.
