Putin's editorial is here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/12/op...-on-syria.html

He said the following:
Quote:
It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation.
Only to communists and socialists, social engineers, and others who believe in an orderly, controlled society.

American exceptionalism was never in any way about our government, genetics, race, religion, nor any other factor including geography. It is rooted in the idea of the unlimited individual. The one who faced both every danger... and every opportunity with eyes open and no controlling hand of power to shield him or limit him.

Freedom of the individual produces exceptional outcomes. Because freedom of the individual is the exception, not the norm. American exceptionalism was very real, because our individual freedom WAS exceptional - and now no longer exists.

It can be regained.

However, such ideas - that the individual can be exceptional, that he has no limitations other than that which he places on himself - are dangerous to tyrants and dictators and those who seek to control. Because, those who know and believe in their own freedom refuse to be ordered around. They refuse to be dictated to, and they cannot be placated, bought, bribed, or scared into conformity.

Yes, Putin is right. For him, that is. He's a communist, or at least an authoritarian. The idea that people can resist authority and being controlled is the most dangerous idea, ever, to men like him.

Obama even dissed our "American exceptionalism" back in 2011.

Putin comes off looking small and desperate, when is the last time a head of state wrote an op-ed when there was a threat of war. Seems like there are plenty of media outlets that could have covered a speech if he wanted to get the word out.

Does Obama now respond with an article in the Russian Times, best to just ignore Putin.

Default Putin is an idiot

His ally has used chemical weapons, forbidden by the international community, and he is OK with this. Fearing a military strike, a type and kind of such precision and effectiveness as only President Obama can deliver, he attempts to pretend as if he in in the superior position. He writes this stupid Op-ed trying to equate President Obama's approach to Syria with that of Dubya. Just shows how backwards he is.

He must think that this country is incredibly dumb, still being run by Bush Republicans. It just shows how backwards he is. Putin obviously part of the problem. The Russian people surely are going to give him the boot. He's an ignorant Neanderthal.

What Syria did cannot stand. Thank God for people like President Obama.

ahh, more drivel from the obamanot. yes putins ally has used chemical weapons, but putin is not happy about it. putin however DOES understand the concept of ally and friendship, something obama knows nothing about. putin has indeed put pressure on assad to end the use of chemical weapons, and relinquish control of them to the international community. why you ask? because he doesnt want russian citizens in harms way when obama selects the wrong targets, rather like clinton did in kosovo in the 90s(remember when the chinese embassy was bombed because the clinton administration selected the WRONG targets?). obama doesnt have a clue as to what he is doing, in fact i think he walks around the white house using a white cane with a red tip.

Default Putin Writes New York Times Op-ed - Slams Obama

1) There was no slam aimed at President Obama in that editorial, as much as RWNJs wish it so.

2) Putin is a crafty politician, but he has no business lecturing America on rights and wrongs in connection with international conventions like upholding the prohibition against chemical weapons.

Why are we arming the rebels especially since we are at war with them in Afghanistan?
