The long-term trend is for more production (economic productivity, basically) to take place with fewer workers. More specifically, fewer labor-hours of "input." The productivity that a company can generate with either the same number of workers or even a reduced number of workers goes up, which means that the single biggest source of money for most people - their labor - declines in value.
We also have the effects of illegal or off-the-books labor, which suppresses wages at the lower end of the labor market in particular. When companies whine that they need more visas for foreign workers, they are saying that they don't want to pay the prevailing prices for labor, and wish to reduce those costs by diluting the market.
That, too, has a downward effect on wages as a whole.
These kinds of issues go way beyond politics. Technology and automation have been very gradually changing the landscape of the modern workforce since the microprocessor era began, but it was slow for quite a while, and displaced workers were largely able to adapt. Until the end of the 1990's, which is when the labor force participation rate hit its all-time high. It has been in gradual decline since then.
well one of the halmarks of the Obama administration and economic theory was to stop trickledown economics.
looks like he succeeded. Now we get to pay for it.
Actually he did not succeed at ending trickle down economics. The Republicans hold onto it with a death grip and are willing to shut down the government to protect trickle down economics.
Let's recap... how are job creators "responsible" for Angel Adams' extreme lack of personal responsibility?
What does that have to do with the video you posted? Ah yes, it is all Angel Adams' fault that "job creators" or "rich people" aren't creating more jobs nor paying their workers better wages. She must be a very powerful woman to prevent some of the wealthiest people who have seen their incomes rise as the middle class stays stagnant from paying their employees better and hire more people. That makes complete sense.
Trickle up poverty has been highly successful. And even though liberals are all for it, they seem to be quite unhappy with the highly predictable results.
I could give you guesses on what could be done but I do not have an economics degree, nor know how to best apply such things, but increasing minimum wage to where it should be when you factor in inflation, put limitations on free trade or get rid of free trade and replace it with fair trade, tax goods that are shipped into the country and offer tax breaks for goods made in the country. Make it easier for businesses to start and expand within the US and penalize companies that outsource employment to other countries.
