Things are always getting better for the people at the top because the money doesn't trickle down to the ones who do the work.

The White House believes "things are getting better", but they believe a lot of things the rest of us can see are simply not true.

Maybe, but do you really believe the the Republicans are going to reverse this trend? They do everything in their power to do the exact opposite.

Really its like looking at poverty ;it does not count any other source of wealth except income. Just the ACA will increase wealth of those getting get at lower or in many cases free quite a bit. Poverty figure do not count any other program people get income or benefit.Same as with employers paying more thru the government middle man is t will have itrs effects on direct payments. whether to employees salaries or numbers employed without a doubt. It is a choice that voters have a made since the mid 60's really.

Occupy??

Don't see any groups addressing the issue. Guess everybody is waiting on someone ELSE to do something about our Economic issues.

Just not the group who initially raised awareness on the issue.

The economic theories being advanced here give me a headache.

There is a rather novel idea widely taught in Economics 101 called "supply and demand."

How does that work with respect to the price paid for labor?

Employers are in the business of making a profit or they go out of business. They pay what the going rate is to get good help. If they value someone with more ability than someone else they would wisely pay that person more than the less worthy person.

In cases of extreme labor shortages employers have to step up to the plate and pay a premium price for labor. That's why hamburger flippers in Williston, N.C. get $18 an hour.

The bottom line simply stated is that our economy stinks. It has been in the ditch since about 2008. We are going on six years now. Why should ANY employer pay more money when there is a surplus of labor? That is the result of the iron law of supply and demand.

It can be manipulated by unions but then we have the debacle of the auto industry going bankrupt bailed out by the taxpayers. Eventually that house of cards will come tumbling down. And over the past few years in right to work states the incomes have actually been going up over forced union states.

Get the economy moving again and the incomes will invariably go up to match and exceed the cost of living. That's a concept that some politicians don't seem to understand. They seem to believe that money grows on trees or more commonly to be found in the pockets of the people who produce goods and services and pay taxes. It's called vote buying.
