Invest in a list of global rankings. Cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, or even Atlanta (which probably voted for Obama anyway) are nowhere near world class. Chicago is several tiers above them, and has an economy larger than most red states too.

We have really strict gun regulations.
The area patrolled by the Montreal police actually has 700 000 fewer people than that patrolled by the Chicago police.

Still, that territory with 2 million people (Montreal) has only had 19 murders so far in 2013.

Montreal is the 15th largest city in North America. It is much smaller than Chicago, whether measured by the city limits or the metropolitan area. Can you get basic facts correct?

So we are in agreement that the continual focus on city gun laws by Chicago politicians over the past 30 years have been a sham and a charade?

I moved from Chicago to Seattle about 20 years ago. When I lived in Chicago it was illegal to even have a handgun in your home. It was legal for a Chicago resident to buy a handgun, but to be legal you had to store it outside of city limits. In Seattle not only was it legal to own a handgun, 5 minutes of paperwork got me a permit to carry it, which was entirely verboten in Chicago except for police and various other politically-connected types.

Last year Seattle had 26 murders, while Chicago had 532. Seattle is about one fourth the size, pop-wise, so it translates to about 104 murders in Seattle vs. 532 in Chicago.

That was ages ago, handguns are legal in Chicago and conceal and carry will soon be allowed as well
