Chicago is the murder capitol of the US.

And 'jobs' won't appeal to these animals.

Gun violence is downstream of gangs and drugs and career criminals and yes their enablers the grug users.

If that segment of the problem was addressed, gun violence would be far lower on the list of concerns than deaths and injuries form high school sports.

Litmus test for gun regs must be a review by the gangs and criminals incarcerated to tell the legislators how their behavior will be impacted by the proposed regs.

The gangs are well known to cops, individual gang members are documented. The gangs intentions are documented. Gangs operate from prisons to control the streets and prisons. There in lies the source of gun violence along with self serving legislators and a dumber than rocks electorate that think past their nose.

Standard lib/dem strategy is to engage in creative statistics and relabeling to make problems go away...and the idiot electorate is blind to these charlatans.

There are some bad neighborhoods in the city here, but nothing like Chicago.

Plus Chicago is probably the UGLIEST city in the US. Maybe that's what turns them into killers there.

Isn't Chicago having one of the strongest laws regarding gun control...

It seems the bad guys aren't aware of it.

Let other people have a gun so they can defend themselves against the bad people!!!
A hand gun ban was tried in chicago, it was overturned.

Legalize drugs. End gangs money, end their power, ends shootings.

Guess what lowered the murder rate back then?
Chicago still has a lot going for it. They have 6 universities that supply a steady stream of skilled workers, good location, no water shortage issues unlike many Western cities, a bunch of Fortune 500 headquarters and commodities exchanges. They could turn over a new leaf with four simple things:

1) defund the criminal sector by ending the drug war
2) allow the law-abiding to defend themselves by enacting CCW
3) end institutional corruption by banning public sector unions
4) inner city kids have opportunities other than a life of crime--enact school vouchers.

Of course when you realize that Pres. Obama would never go for any of these four, neither are any other Chicago politicians, so they will continue to follow in the footsteps of Detroit.

No, that would be Flint, Michigan. Chicago isn't even close, right wingers are only crying about it because Obama lived there before he became president.

Actually, for the most part, they would.

I used to live in Chicago, and found one simple solution to all the problems--move out of there! Leave the gangs and democrat politicians to shoot each other and steal from each other. It's like Assad vs. al Nusra. What do I care if they wish to blow each other to smithereens?

I agree that some of your initiatives would help. Chicago is definitely not Detroit. There's a TON of money in the city and its issues are isolated. The land mass of the safe areas is bigger than most small cities.

I agree with you about Obama though. He needs to man up and end the Drug War. He has to know about its affects.
