When you have blatant disregard for your employees, what else is it? When the first thing out of the district managers mouth when he sees you is "did you sell anything today", what else is it? I don't have a problem with them making money, it is what they do, my problem is how they treat there employees.
If your job is being a sales clerk, then if you are not selling enough you are costing your company money by being there and not being productive/doing your job.
So I see that your attitude is a big problem and that you have a double standard. You accuse your employer and the district manager not caring about YOUR best interests, yet you don't care about doing what's in the best interests of the company. No sales=equal no cash in to pay for your wages. Companies have never existed for the sake of creating jobs, there are there to produce material goods or a service to others for a profit. And those profits are the only way that the owners and employees can be compensated monetarily for their efforts, plus the cash flow in pays for their other overhead costs like the machinery, buildings and other infrastructure.
You might do best working in commission sales. That way you would be better compensated for when you are highly productive as an employee.
Well, if you treat/pay your employees right, you get employees with better work ethic and they will tend to be more loyal.
Nope. Spoil your employees and have them taken advantage of the situation and not even be grateful about it. I see that ALL the time at work. The only workers with a good work ethic are older and Chinese. The younger ones in their twenties and the new immigrants are all about taking advantage of every single benefit perk and more.

I see you give the typical corporate answer, "it's your attitude" what is wrong with doing right by your employees and paying a decent salary, and by the way, I was not in the sales end of things, I was a delivery man.

You obviously don't know me, I have a very good work ethic and I am not talking about spoiling, just paying a half decent wage and treat your employees right. That is all.

Umm, Costco pays their employees well and gets quality employees as a result. That works for Costco because they end up having customers spend more. Good employees won't work for crap pay or for crap employers for longer than they have to.

That is my point, if Costco can do it in a highly competitive business, then the others can also. God forbid they have to give up a little profit to make their employees lives a little easier.

I think the days are over regarding corporations worrying about how "easy" or what the quality of life is for their own employees. However, I do think they should take a look at what paying a little more gets you.
Costco is a fine example of that. In my area, they start at $12.50 an hour. I have had the same Costco workers at my store for the last 5 years (since it has opened). You get to knowk them, they are professional, and that professionalism makes you want to shop there more often (as well as good prices of course).
Also in our area, Chick-Fil-A pays more than McDonald's/Wendy's etc and the professionalism, commitment to service shows through. Makes you want to go out of your way to eat there because the experience is pleasant.
If some of these companies would raise their pay a bit, they could afford to be more choosy with employees and possibly increase their reputations and bottom line.

You are correct, the place I worked for had a revolving door for employees, the only ones that stayed were 4 or 5 regulars who were there for years. They paid slightly above minimum wage and employees were nothing more than ponds to do there bidding and make money for the company, they received little in return.
