your post is devoid of historical context and you know it.
those southern Democrats you talk about supporting Jim Crow eventually became republicans thanks to Nixon's and Reagan's southern strategy and Kennedy's and LBJ's embrace of civil rights for the Dems.
Actually the reason the Democrats changed their position was because of LBJ who knew that the Democratic Party would not be able to survive unless it could get black voters (black people were voting GOP at this time), so LBJ passed the "great society act", which was essentially nothing more than a bunch of welfare programs. LBJ even said "I'll have those N words voting Democrat for the next hundred years", sure enough he was right and these welfare programs are the reason why much of the black community today is still in poverty, they cannot escape the welfare trap.
LBJ also voted against anti-lynching laws and was the main force of putting Byrd into congress at the time, who was the leader of the KKK. Also meanwhile in South Carolina, the heart of the South, they elected an Indian woman who came from a Shiq religious background as Governor. Republicans also drove KKK leader David Duke out of the party. I suggest you research your history again.
Now I don't think either party is racist today, but there is no denying that the Democrats have always been on the wrong side of history. Always.
chicago, detroit, st louis, la, the bay, nyc, baltimore, and DC arent in the South either.
" baltimore, and DC arent in the South either." Really? Where did you study geography and history?
Technically Balt, and D.C ARE in the south. They are below the Mason Dixon Line.
" Mason-Dixon line

noun the boundary between Pennsylvania and Maryland, partly surveyed by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon between 1763 and 1767, popularly considered before the end of slavery as a line of demarcation between free and slave states."

Not a lie, some of my best friends hail from the South. And while we are a bit different in thought, i still love them. Just accept different things where as they do not. Cannot change their mind set, this is how they are.
They are from MS, AL AK
and believe me they have a different mind set. I hear the jokes being said, and how they refer to blacks, cannot change them, this is who they are. Not all of them either, some have changed drastically thru out the years, because a couple of them lived out here for a while and we became great friends. My attitude is different then theirs where people are concern.
And some will not change from their upbringing, does not mean i can't be friends with them, we just differ in our opinions.
Anyone who bases facts on radical political journalism of either side is WRONG! (Yes Huffpost is one of these types of journalism)
There's racist people everywhere, all 50 states have racism. There's racists of all races, and limiting racism to just one race and one historical factor makes no sense. I've met truly racist people in all the states I've lived in or visited. Truth is that we all just need to grow up and be less sensitive and political when it comes to what is perceived as "racism" vs. what true racism is. We must stop the political crap and admit that all races can be racists! Yes there are individuals who are racist and they deserve to be criticized, but to blow 1 stereotype out of context and blame 1 race like we have done in this country is making the problem far worse than it actually is! We all need to agree to stop our childish behavior!
Politics is the problem, and both left and right wingers are to blame!
I believe when someone is talking down on another race it is out of ignorance or it could be fear . It might be lack of esteem so they have to knock someone else down. I am not really sure why? I know there are racists .
I wish we all could see things as MLK did... look at character. If someone is a thug they also come in all colors.. We can't generalize..but it is easy to do when actions are seen .
I know from personal experience that blacks hold a big grudge and resentment toward whites.. this is taught.. and also whites who are racists are ignorant and hateful too. It is taught.. and it makes that person look small in my eyes..I don't like it at all.
I assume by AK you mean Arkansas? AR is the abbreviation for Arkansas not AK.
I was just wondering?
