The death by firearm count per capita is dropping, as it has been for decades. It is at about a 50 year low. The total count is up slightly, but the US has added 100 million in population since 1970.

The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). If this perennial slaughter doesn't qualify for intercession by the UN and all relevant NGOs, it is hard to know what does.
Peacekeepers and the U.N would be too scared to try unless they had the U.S government backing them which would then really mean chaos and civil war.
Which would also lead to world wide despair when the U.S.A collapsed into chaos and civil war.
A blue helmet checkpoint would last maybe a day before they were sniped down by "Joe" and his hunting rifle or AR or whatever "Joe" has.......
Any progressive liberal that at first supported it would soon change minds as they realize the toll was effecting their quality of life both financially and by being a sympathizer.
Since the UN peacekeeping force is made up mostly of US troops with a smattering of useless hangers on you are advocating that the US military turn it's weapons on the citizens? You really think people will round up their own family members.....That order is the fast track to a real SHTF scenario.....

Let the peacekeepers be from Britain then. See how soon Britain's moms and fathers tire of having their son's and daughters come home in a bag. It happened before in 1776.......
