There are about 11,000 gun homicides per year in the US. Some are 'bad-guy on bad-guy' and others 'bad-guy on good guy' and some are justifiable 'good guy on bad guy'. How many lives were saved by these justifiable deaths - you know - good guy kills bad guy in a kill or be killed situation?

How many lives have guns "saved"?
The "American Rifleman" magazine has a monthly column ("The Armed Citizen") that reprints newpaper articles, 1/2 dozen or so at a time, where a law abiding citizen has used a firearm to protect themselves and/or loved ones.

That column has been if effect for many years.

The DOJ or FBI also has that data if you're honestly interested.

The numbers would surprise (or dismay, depending on your ideology) you.

Do we get to count the ones who would have been killed if there wasn't a 2nd Amendment?

Obama counted millions of jobs created by the stimulus by arguing they would have been lost.

By that metric, guns have saved tens of millions of lives.

Self-reported stats are mostly garbage. While some here would have many problems with basing estimates of the incidence of racial discrimination on the job based on self-reports, the same folks will have no problem basing conclusions about guns used for self-defense based on self-reports.

I can't wait for a reference to John Lott's numbers.

You are aware that police killing a suspect are part of those numbers?

Unsupported opinions of paranoid leftists such as cometclear, who have no evidence to back any of them up, are entirely garbage.
