"On Aug. 7, that same Alexis had called police from a Newport, R.I., Marriott. He was hearing voices...he told the cops....So here is this panic-stricken soul, psychotic and in terrible distress. And what does modern policing do for him? The cops tell him to “stay away from the individuals that are following him.” Then they leave.
But the three “individuals” were imaginary, for God’s sake. This is how a civilized society deals with a man in such a state of terror?"
Really makes the case for better mental health care. Sick people make a cry for help, and they are ignored, then they go off and kill people, and we want to 'fix it' by banning assault rifles, limited magazine capacity to 10, and demand universal (unenforceable) background checks. None of which would have prevented the Navy Yard attack.
So are you advocating expanding mental health services? Perhaps increasing screening? Maybe reopening government run mental health clinics so those with illnesses can get affordable inpatient care when needed?

Don't know about the OP but I for one think that would be an excellent start.

I'm advocating identifing the real problem, then finding a solution that will actually work. It's a novel approach.

Democrats killed the sanotorium concept, citing similarities to "slavery" back in the 80's. Perhaps you could take it up with them as to how we get around their political correctness?
Wow you know Alex could of been Obama's brother (Trayvon Martin comment) but he would treat him like he treats his real brother...like s#!t.
