Harry Reid: Republicans can't filibuster spending bill | WashingtonExaminer.com

"rules dictate the Senate will automatically adjourn Wednesday at noon, then come back into session to hold the vote on the spending bill early in the afternoon"

"Cruz and Lee could continue to hold up the spending bill through the weekend, but rules say a final vote is guaranteed to take place Sunday at the latest."

This last scenario is particularly damaging, as it would force Boehner to have an up-or-down vote on the Senate Resolution without time to make any amendments. Cruz is sandbagging Boehner. United we stand...

The constitution sets out a procedure for making laws like the ACA. That procedure was followed and was confirmed by the supreme court. A supreme court solidly in the the control of conservatives.

That has always been key for Senator Ted Cruz. If you aren't a Conservative, you wouldn't understand the motivation. Sorry about that.
Cruz is a self-promoter in the image of Sarah Palin. And his political career is likely to follow a similar trajectory. He's in it to make as big a splash and as big a name for himself as he can while he holds one elected office, then he'll have a solid career bloviating to right wing audiences on Fox News and the fried chicken circuit.

Yep. Cruz is going to stick it to Boehner and all his House buddies who did his bidding by attempting to push back the final vote for as long as possible, even knowing he can't stop the ACA, and that the longer he goes, the bigger bind it will put the House in. One could almost believe he's trying to bring down the GOP.

Exactly. I heard a great quote a while back.

"When you are dead, you won't know you are dead. It is only difficult for the others around you.

It is the same when you are stupid."

Very apropos for today's climate.

Tellingly, you link to Brietbart's interpretation of the WaPo report rather than the original story itself. Did you read the WaPo story?

The Education of Ted Cruz - The Washington Post

"The only way to stop the funding, then, is to filibuster a bill that is drafted exactly as Cruz prefers. It’s the sort of parliamentary pretzel logic that has led many Senate Republicans to say this was the wrong fight to pick.

“That should pose an easy choice for every Republican senator,” Cruz told reporters.
It may indeed, and he is likely to lose."

Twitter is not being kind to Cruz. Some of my favorites:

Ted is now reading "Little Engine That Could." Game over for Reid.

So this is basically Cruz trying to save face with dumb people, right?

Never seen anyone try harder to be folksy than Ted Cruz. He's two duck blind anecdotes away from convincing Mike Lee to whitewash a fence.

And my favorite:

Worst. Ted. Talk. Ever.

Then there's this:

ABC: one GOP leadership source suggested he might go on only long enough to reach the prime time audience on Fox News.

^^This would not surprise me in the least.

Only if his intention is to remain in DC as a senator. By his words and actions, he clearly wants to become a right wing talking head, which no doubt pays better and is part-time work. Doesn't involve those bothersome election campaigns where one has to pretend to like people, either.
