I, for one had a pension that that increased in value the more I worked. Had I not worked at least 40 hours over my time employed there, my pension payout now that I am retired wouldn't be enough to sustain me. True, a work week with less hours might work great for some, but I appreciate the fact that I did put in the hours because now I have an income stream and don't have to lift a finger. I'm sure many would say, work less hours, even part-time, and just save and put money in a 401k, or some other sort of retirement fund. And that would possibly work for some, but it wasn't something I could do with children, a mortgage, and other bills that drained my income at the time. And, since my pension is a direct benefit type, it seemed more stable that relying on a market based fund. Without allegiance to either political side, I would say that Pelosi is the epitome of those in high office.

Hey, at least the roadsides will be cleaner. As for Pelosi and her cohorts, they have been out of touch with the working man for years.

All of a sudden 40 hours is too much for Americans.
And since Americans are too stupid to fend for themselves about their working hours we have the government coming in and mandating it for them.

Imagine the US 50 years from now when none have pensions and few have any retirement savings (IRA/401K) and all they have is SS (if it's still there) and continued p/t work until they drop.

If working less than 40 hours = freedom to follow passion, then the less you work the more freedom you have.. Thats PELOSI's argument..

So those who work ZERO hours has lots of time to follow their passion.

yes, I didnt think anyone on here was stupid enough to think that cutting peoples hours to 29 a week, was a good idea, especially considering people cant live off 40.

Are you having trouble following along with the thread? We're discussing Pelosi claiming that the death of the 40 hour work week means freedom.

The Freemkt Curve (TM) says that freedom to follow one's passion varies along an employment range running from zero hours (hence zero income) to n hours where n hours generates sufficient income to meet individual needs.

Those who work zero hours have no income and therefore can't follow their passion while working say 60 hours a week just to get by also limits the ability to follow your passion. Many people can maximize their Passion Quotient by working a job just about 29 hours a week.

Perhaps by that time these people will have more options for low-cost living?

When obamacare was passed pelosi said in 2010: "We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said in May 2010. “A bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

Now Pelosi says the same thing about the 40 hour week created by obamacare. You think she knew what was coming with regard to a 30hr week?

Same marketing scheme, just fill in the blanks. She knew what was in it but wanted the 'children' to unwrap their present.

I'm waiting for the government mandate to bunch my toilet paper instead of layering. Of course government Gould mandate the method that is more likely to get poop on your fingure.

Sure she can spout that crap because she's got millions in the bank.
To Pelosi having a health insurance card in your wallet is Utopia.
