No, not at all. This has nothing to do with claiming them as "one of us".

But I do find this mentality to be rather sad....

In a sense they are discriminating against Americans by defending illegal aliens just because most of them are of their ethnic group. This attitude brings another word to mind to describe them but I'll just leave it at that.
That's not discrimination, lol. Fighting for immigrant rights and amnesty is not discriminatory. Nowhere will you find a quote made by La Raza that states that they are only interested in helping Latino immigrants, as opposed to undocumented immigrants in general. Not only that, but La Raza has never proclaimed to be against Americans. Everyone in La Raza is either Mexican American or Central American-Americans. So, being discriminatory against Americans would make them discriminatory against themselves.

You're trying to make connections between things that just do not exist. Such as your connection between La Raza and racism.

Do yourself a favor and put some thought into your words.

Very sad, but one can also argue that whites tan to attempt to mimic a certain beauty that some people like Latinos naturally possess.

However, the MOTIVATION behind the actions are vastly different.

"Immigrant" rights? Don't make me laugh. They aren't immigrants they are illegal aliens and just what rights do they have in this country? It is discriminating against Americans to demand amnesty for millions of illegal aliens when we 23 million Americans out of work along with all the other negative impacts on Americans.

Of course La Raza would never publicly admit that it is only because most of these illegals are of their ethnic group that they are demanding amnesty for them. Are you really this dense? They wouldn't give a damn if the majority of these illegals were Chinese for example. "All for the race, outside of the race nothing" as the quote goes. It is a racist organization and so are the ethnocentric supporters of these mostly Latino illegals. WTH is an undocumented immigrant? There is no such thing except in the pro-illegal PC vocabulary. Trying to pretty up what they are doesn't change a thing. They are still illegal aliens, period!

I disagree. They both want to look a certain way that differs from what they naturally look like. Getting cosmetics that change your skin color from dark to light is no more radical than sitting in a tanning bed getting bombarded by cancerous rays to change your skin color from light to dark.

Oh geez, what an arrogant remark! Whites like any other race are just as beautiful in their natural state as any other racial/ethnic group. Just because they like a little summer tan does not mean they are trying to emulate the so-called natural beauty of Latinos. Latinos don't have any more natural beauty than any other group. Geez, do you stare at yourself in the mirror everyday and gloat?

We BOTH know that what motivated Sammy Sosa to bleach his very dark skin "white" was vastly different (and a far more complex issue) than a suburban Caucasian soccer mom getting a tan.

Race in Latin America is very fluid. People who are considered black here may not be in Latin America. Indeed, many Mexicans consider themselves white, even though they would not be considered white here. This is nothing new - extensive articles have been written about it.

Yes, and what about Michael Jackson also? Some people are so in love with their own group that they can't see the beauty in others and think everyone else wants to look like them. Every race/ethnic group are different in looks but they are all equally beautiful. To say otherwise is just plain arrogant.
