OPEC comment drives oil close to $95 - Yahoo! News (broken link)

Well OPEC making one heck of a power play here against the U.S. If they unpeg the dollar to oil in the end well.......let's say it's not too good for the U.S.

I guess it like the old saying goes: You reap, what you sow.

Not that big of a deal, OPEC sales prices are already corrected to dollar-euro conversions. OPEC ain't stupid. The correction is already in effect.

Fair enough. Let me ask you then. If OPEC decides to decouple the dollar from oil. What will be the dollar's future direction as currency? I bet is and from what I hearing is that the dollar goes off a cliff for a while if they do decouple. Granted like you said alot of those fears are priced into the market. But I fear for the future worth of the dollar. I got a long while before I retire and I would be nice if my money isn't worthless outside the U.S.

baystater - What make you think that the dollar will be worth anything inside the US. time to move assets overseas. Euro's look good. Krugerrands and Mapleleafs look better.

Got me on that one. Put this way I'm just hoping that the U.S. dollar doesn't hit parity with the Mexican peso buy the time I'm ready to retire. I don't get paid in U.S. Dollars not Krugerrands. Granted I should see if I can get paid in gold but I don't think my work will go for it. But hey why not ask.

Anyways. excellent investment advice for me and other X'ers and younger.

Thank Much.

This was just the first step. Pretty soon Saudi Araba, Japan and others will start dumping our treasury bills on the open market.
