you are heading into Troll territory so be careful.

Reid and Obama are VERY clear - there are NO negotiations, they refuse to even talk to any of the Republicans. Obama said it again this afternoon and so did Harry Reid. No negotiations at all.
Don't pretend they didn't both say that.

A "perk" is a discount on purchases or a pizza party every other Friday. Health insurance and other such benefits are part of an employees TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE. It's a huge deal, not just a fun add on.
It was hilarious to read that someone thinks their employee benefits are a perk and not compensation.

Of course if one thinks employers should control their employee's benefits based on the employers religious beliefs, then I guess seeing benefits as compensation the same as money doesn't work.

Because not even most crazy conservatives would think your employer can tell you what to buy with your paycheck.

So healthcare benefits have to now be considered a gift from generous employers to employees by many conservatives to justify that level of control over the benefits.

Default Nonsense title from the Right

Translation: Republicans, the party whose political instincts told them that Bush would make a fine president, the party who submerged this country into two wars without justification, the party who thought Palin was qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, the party who turns surpluses into record deficits, the party who has been downgraded by its tea party contingent, the party of bigots, the party that thought Romney was winning right up until reality struck on election day, the party supported by the most ignorant and racially-insensitive people in this country, the party of the Confederate South, the party who ignored the health care crisis for 8 horrific years under Bush, the party of the rich to the detriment of everyone else, the party that prefers to give taxes breaks for the rich, the party who wants to throw granny over the cliff, the party who has done noting but push forth bad policy, been a detriment to this country, and floundered as Neanderthal obstructionists...pass a repulsive bill in the Republican-decimated House to extort, Dems rightfully refuse to consider this crap, and acknowledge that the shutdown is the result of the Republicans idiotic move. It was a stupid move by Boehner and the House GOP, plain and simple. The shutdown negatively impacts Republicans.

Republicans today are the most pathetic in history.

Troll territory because I asked what was on the table for the GOP? We know what they are demanding of the Democrats, but we have not seen what they would be willing to give up to get what they want. That's how negotiations work, you know. So if the other side isn't willing to give anything up to get what they want, then Reid and Obama are right, why should they "negotiate" when it's really just one side making demands?

And you still haven't answered that question. What's in it for the Democrats?

House Repubs are trying to work out a way to revolt over lack of leadership and, with Dems, pass the clean CR bill. Interesting. On a related issue, Boehner was complaining about misplacing his big headed gavel .... Ted Cruz was spotted making hasty exit from offices with a large lump in his back pocket. You don't suppose ....

Oh, I forgot the link ...

Can the GOP be any more childish? I think not. Too bad for them, they fool no one but their base, who are not the sharpest tools in the shed, so no surprise there.

Think back to HOW Obamacare was passed.

Now talk about childish.

Nonsense. The American people have expressed no desire to defund Obamacare. You really, really have to stop making stuff up.

And no... blame does not partition equally. It is only one side in this debate that has decided to try and gain via extortion what they cannot apparently legitimately legislate. A continuing resolution is not a budget bill.

Most Americans are against the ACA as a whole, but agree with portions of it. This was a law that was forced upon us and in a hurry. It is top heavy with a whole lot of Government involvement which means it will cost even more. We have a good many laws just like this on the books, but the law is passed.
How do you fix a bad law? You can either vote to over turn it or you can vote to amend it.
What the GOP is doing is foolish and is wasting what little political capital they have left. If they were wise they would seek to find some compromise, which they have not done. Most of my posts call out the fact that both parties have gone to an all or nothing policy in dealing with each other. This has to be the least productive approach to conflict resolution.
Millions of Americans are uninsured, many by choice and many because it is a matter of buy food or buy insurance situation. What is the answer and who should foot the bill? Well obviously those who are poor are in no position to foot the bill. Middle class is footing their own bill already and so are the wealthy.
Here is an idea, why don't we down size the bloated departments. Downsize our overly large military and use those savings to make the ACA cost neutral.
This problem is not impossible to solve.
