Government services affected by shutdown -

Government services not affected by shutdown (this should be the "important stuff" list) -
Homeland Security, Mail, Social Security, Air Travel, Prisons, VA Mortgages, Presidents Salary(really?), Congressional Salary(lmfao.), Food Stamps ( ), Food Inspection.
Should switch Military pay, Work Saftey and Health for President Salary, Congressional Salary and Food stamps.
conservatives got their wish. The conservative party is run by insane people.
You have to prosecute people in court to enforce a law.
Um... no.
Enforcement of DOMA meant that gay people legally married in states that recognized gay marriage did not get federal recognition or benefits, same for military benefits. Those provisions were enforced until the law was struck down.
It all comes out of the same government debt -- the money is NOT there for the ACA. If the money were there, then the debt ceiling would not have to be increased.
Repealing Obamacare increases the deficit. I'm a pretty vocal opponent of Obamacare, but it doesn't increase the debt load.
Quote:
Assuming that H.R. 6079 is enacted near the beginning of fiscal year 2013, CBO and JCT estimate that, on balance, the direct spending and revenue effects of enacting that legislation would cause a net increase in federal budget deficits of $109 billion over the 2013–2022 period. Specifically, we estimate that H.R. 6079 would reduce direct spending by $890 billion and reduce revenues by $1 trillion between 2013 and 2022, thus adding $109 billion to federal budget deficits over that period.
Obviously you missed the memo where the ACA is being funded on top of everything else needed in raising the Debt Ceiling.
The fact that you keep including the debt ceiling in the same sentence as the ACA means you still do not understand what it is.
The ACA was funded by taxes/fees and did not require additional deficit spending, at least not for the next few years. It has nothing to do with the debt ceiling.
The Republicans were interrupted by the departure of Bush. They were working on creating another Great Depression. Failing that, they have succeeded in shutting down the Government with their stupid demands. History in the making. Today's Tea bagger-downgraded Republican party is now officially the worst in history.
The President is the best in history for continually taking the high road against such pathetic opposition, and effectively doing his job. It is evident that Republicans FEAR the living hell out of the Affordable Health Care because they know that once it goes into effect, it will be a resounding success.

Really? So then what exactly is this shutdown about?

Every cent the government borrows to spend has "something to do" with the debt ceiling.

You would have been a Tory in the American Revolution.
