There is not much to talk about, really. The matter at hand is raising the debt ceiling to pay the bills already incurred. The other issues being drug into it are not suitable in this context.
If it was democrats attaching riders to a different bill, the RW would be screaming bloody murder. Boehner needs to regain control of his harpies and send over a clean bill that doesn't try to subvert the ACA, which, BTW, has proven to be enormously popular today. It is not going away. What is going away is all of the republicans in December of 2014 if they don't pull their heads out and do what they are supposed to.
I like this shut down too . It will be hilarious when businesses get shut down because their enviromental permits haven't been processed and renewed for the new fiscal year and they are presecuted for violations of the Clean Air and Water Acts by operating without valid permits by DOJ which still has its employees and the Courts are still open you know.
So, America should arrest and detain in a maximum security facility anyone who has political ideas that differ from the ones that YOU hold dear? Sounds like tactics used by Third World despots, communist dictators and the totalitarian government of 1930's Germany.

The classic definition of "terrorism" fits the actions of the Tea Partiers in Congress to a "T" (no pun intended). They are attempting to frighten Americans into throwing in with them against the ACA, which is the law of the land, duly voted on and upheld by SCOTUS through the judicial review process.
Actually, ACA is a voluntary tax, no different than FICA, which is also voluntary.

These are people who can't afford it: For example, people who make so little they don't have to file a tax return are exempt."
AHEM - - - what most Americans are unaware of, is that ACA, being a TAX, is linked with FICA. Yes, that's right. Your consent, via prior enrollment into voluntary national socialism IMPOSES the obligation to insure yourself.
That's why ACA wasn't ruled unconstitutional, despite the common perception that it wasn't quite kosher. Nontaxpayers are not obligated, nor can they be punished for failure to get insurance under ACA.

All you have to do, to cease being a "person liable" is to stop exercising revenue taxable privileges, such as participation in FICA / SocSec and Usury (interest bearing bank accounts, etc).
Remember, no government instituted to SECURE RIGHTS has a delegated power to INFRINGE RIGHTS (tax, restrict or otherwise diminish).

I don't know somehow my power is still on, I was able to get a glass of water from the sink, I went and got some money from the bank and took the kids out to dinner, my cable TV is even on.........I still have phone service.......I had to fill up that gas tank and did. But the government is shut down and we can't go to a national park. Oh my...........LOL. Gimme a break. What a joke it all is when you really look at it. Only in the eyes of the lunatics who want to spend my grandchildren's money who aren't even born yet is this a problem.

Harry Reid is the uncompromising one holding us hostage as you say.
Reid is just upholding the law while republicans are doing everything in their power to get rid of it, including shutting down the government. I'm not sure why a law should require compromise anyway.
