Tea Party-backed Senate candidate Ted Cruz points with pride to the army of small conservative donors supporting him. But his largest longtime contributor is a gay billionaire who supports same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization, campaign finance filings show. Peter Thiel, a German-born hedge fund manager and founder of the online payment system PayPal, gave Cruz $251,000 in 2009 for his aborted run for attorney general. The money represented 19 percent of the total raised for that campaign, which Cruz ended after Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to run for re-election.
But, so much for Republicans being narrow and intolerant...
Thankfully Thiel is not in the Senate and Cruz is. If Cruz changes his direction, I will vote accordingly. Otherwise, there is no reason to change course right now.
The Republican Senators beat him up badly in a private dinner meeting last night. it seems most of them are blaming him for the House intransigence and the shutdown.

Just goes to show you not all gays ... not all drug abusers .... and not all venture capitalists are in the Democratic Party. But this supporter must be into S&M, because Cruz seems to oppose much of what the guy advocates. Maybe the guy is more lucky than he is smart?

I bet they are. The Rinos in the Senate are probably pretty pissed that he's rocking the boat.
Wait and see how many of them suddenly retire this time around.

Come on the Lincoln loggers are a well entrenched gay republican organization. If you are the daughter or son of a well placed republican official or live on Kennabunkport or the Upper West Side...You're right as rain.
If you are from LA, Houston, SF...then you are just plain wrong.

Cruz may be the first in line. His pied piper antics have a lot of the House are as mad as hornets at him, too. Cruz may prove to be a little too pure for all sides in this by the time it all shakes out.
After all, he's only been a Senator for 11 months. His party and his base haven't got much investment in him yet.
