This may have been brought up elsewhere. I'm not reading page after page of the same thing. I have to wonder though.....we see what is happening with the shut down. Does that mean if it happens in the future we can't access our health care?
Will it not be shut down? Is this how we should handle the health of the country?
If, for example, you buy a policy on a state exchange, your payments are made directly to the insurer, not government.
Medical expenses incurred by Medicare, Medicaid and the VA require payment. A default on our debt may cause a delay in making those payments.
Really? In the first 20 seconds of this clip, he says there will be no need for you to lose your existing healthcare, doctor, or have any changes to your plan.
If you agree that HC cost would fall (even though they wont), but not premiums, then you're saying that Obamacare is one big giveaway to the corporate insurance industry..
Why are you supporting it then? Do you love big insurance companies and hate americans?
That's funny how you parrot this "3000%" thing as a lie, when it was obviously just that he misspoke. Just before the "gaffe", Obama specifically said 14-20% according to the CBO-- not Obama's claim. In case you forgot, CBO is the organization that conservatives constantly quote figures from.
You want to know what was actually a lie and not a misspoken figure? Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. That lie cost 4409 American lives.
Obamacare does nothing to address the real problem. The unrealistic healthcare costs which are inflated to get more money out of the insurance companies. There is a lot of profit being made at our expense!
BINGO!
Insurance that manages and pays for your services instead of YOU... Is the single largest reason for spiraling costs of medical products and services.
BTW, insurance doesn't pay for ANYTHING. You (the premium payers) pay for 100% of it, plus a profit, plus the paperwork man-hours to do it for you.
I am a government employee and although the salary sucks, I've stayed here because of the benefits including excellent healthcare coverage at $94 a month for myself.
I found out today that major changes were made to our plan in 2014 to compily with Obamacare. While I get to keep the same premium. I noticed these changes:
Current copay:
$25 for family doc
$35 for specialist
2014 rate:
$35 for family doc
$70 for specialist
Current testing:
X-rays - no charge
MRI and cat scans - no charge
2014
X-rays - I pay 20%
MRI and cat scans - I pay $250 bucks plus 20%
Deductible
Current - $1500
New - $2500
I realize that I'm still a lot better off than most people, but it still pisses me off that Obama promised that we could keep our current coverage and it wouldn't cost us more. I just had a cat scan done last week. 3 minute test, and the doctor only came in to tell me that the test was clear. I would feel ripped off paying hundreds of dollars for such a simple test. I'm sure the clinic will charge $1000 bucks or more though.

The teachers get it the worst. The monthly premium to cover a teacher and family is $1500 a month. Who in the world can afford that on a teacher's salary?
It seems to me you still have pretty good coverage for not a lot of money. No offense, but I don't get your feeling of being "screwed over".
Only true morons would really believe you could add 30 million+ people to the existing system and not have it cost more. Obama tried to sell us this nonsense along with "nothing would change with your private insurance or the doctor you currently have".
I already had one doctors office notify me that they will no longer be providing care, and my insurance rates have gone up, coverages have been reduced, and deductibles increased for the last two years as a direct result of Romneycare/Obamacare.
Since Obama was wrong(or more likely flat out lied), will he undo the debacle he created and pushed through s lame duck Congress of all (D's)?

Maybe my coverage/and or costs will change but so far neither have.
Isn't a tad early to know what's really going to happen?
