This is how things work in the world: Corporations are out solely to make a profit, and they will do anything to maximize that profit. The problem is you conservatives think that, if you keep conceding to the corporate world, at some point they'll throw you a bone.

No. Our healthcare system is wildly inefficient, and this is the first step in correcting that. If you didn't think there'd be corporate pushback to protect profits then you dont understand the first thing about economics, and your opinion is worthless.
Not possible. I pay my entire health care insurance policy...All that rambling for nothing. NEXT

I see.

So Ford (under Lee Iacocca) was okay with some of it's customers being burned to death in their vehicle because doing so simply required another male in the family to step up to the plate and make life better for everyone while also buying another Ford? Or did they, perhaps, not give a damn because it was cheaper (better for profit) to pay the families of the deceased off?

And PG&E thought that polluting the water supply somehow was also extremely useful to it's customers? Or did they think it was more profitable to just let a few families die than properly clean up their act at a higher cost?

And GE maximized profits by maximizing their usefulness by dumping PCBs into the Hudson? 'Cause "Hey - the public doesn't know and it's much cheaper to just dump this crap into the water."

If you think that was the point, then yeah, its pointless trying to have an intelligent conversation with you.

Useless arguments going back and forth. The only thing that really jumps out at me is that folks really don't know what the hell they're talking about, but they're attempting to sound like experts.

Again, i'm waiting until this thing settles in place before i make a final judgement.

So, corporations dumping toxic waste into Lake Erie, to the point of the lake catching fire, were just doing us all a big favor? No. They didn't want to spend the money needed to prevent pollution and thus increase profits.

A grocer store is interested in maximizing profits. If that means raising prices so that the total revenue is more than the revenue lost when poor buyers stop buying, so be it. Their job is making money, not helping people feed their families.

Yup. You have to buy more insurance: For you, and for the people who are getting govt subsidies from the tax money and higher premiums you just paid in.

Right. Now it's the other way around. YOU are the one paying the bill when others (who get those subsidies) get seriously sick.

A lot of people fail to understand this.
The thing that is really scaring the liberals now, is that most people understand this all too well.
