BWAhahahaHAHAhahahhhaahahaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If these ignorant rednecks get traffic on the Beltway to move at 55 MPH, then they will be celebrated as HEROES!
My guess is they'll be in every lane going 55? If they do happen to do this, I'm staying off the beltway that day..
And if they can pay rangers to patrol a "closed" patch of desert, why can't they pay them to patrol an "open" patch of desert?
The Democrats are playing politics about as dirty as they can. They're trying to make life as difficult as possible for the very people they're supposed to be representing, for nothing but some short term political gain - and it's not even working. They should stop this nonsense NOW.
Let's suppose each 18-wheeler is 60 feet long (many trailers are 53 feet long, and the cab adds quite a bit, so I think 60 feet overall is conservative).
The Beltway is about 64 miles in length. There are 5,280 feet in a mile. To completely occupy one lane of the Beltway all around would be 5,280 ft (in one mile) x 64 miles (length of Beltway) = 337,920 ft divided by 60 ft. (length of each truck) = 5632 trucks to fill one lane.
To completely fill three lanes of the Beltway? 5632 x 3 = 16,896 trucks in all.
That's one helluva lot of trucks!
Now, I don't know what the gas mileage is for a typical 18-wheeler, nor do I know the average price of diesel fuel in the DC area. But to keep that number of trucks running for three days? It's gotta be in the millions of dollars.
It would something to see - certainly one for the history books. But I just can't see it happening.
Not to put too fine a point on the stupidity of this "movement" (not to mention that it's certainly not being organized by real truckers)... "slowing down" the beltway to 55 mph will actually increase its speed by about 30 mph.
Actually, it is unconstitutional. Except for treason, felonies, and "breach of peace", Congress critters cannot be arrested while Congress is in Session. See Article I, Section 6, Clause 1 of the US Constitution.

i'm predicting 24-36 trucks ( with a chunk of those being uninvolved trucks counted in ) for the first day. less than 5 (if any) for the other 2 days.
