90 Percent of Seafood Imports Go Uninspected Due to Shutdown - Management - GovExec.com

"So consistently has shrimp imported from those four countries [Thailand, Indonesia, India and Bangladesh] arrived already decomposed, covered in filth or teeming with salmonella, that FDA flags all shipments as “red alerts” (companies are exempted only after demonstrating health standard compliance). That means Americans might unknowingly be chowing down on red-alert shrimp. If that were to cause a nationwide outbreak of, say, salmonella, the FDA would normally step in to prevent people from eating more. Not now."

That sounds like a threat from our own government.

Good reason not to entrust it with food safety in the first place.

Right, seafood just inspects itself. Nothing worry about.

The USDA has a great track record of being effective. What will we do without these inspections.

Boehner's failure to put a clean CR on the floor is leading to filthy food in our supermarkets now.

Mmkay, right. Like they are the ones in control of it all right now. No budget, "no compromise" Harry Reid has no part!

Sure...

And it's hilarious how Obama single-handedly gets terrorists and pumps up the stock market, yet has no part when it comes to this!
