For those of you who are omnivores: What are your thoughts about vegetarians and vegans (who are not allergic or religious, but making food choices for ethical reasons)?
Are they admirable? Are they too uppity? Do you think vegetarians are wimps for not going all the way to veganism? Are vegans too rigid/anal? i.e. interrogating the person who prepared food about exactly what's in it?

I don't really care what they do. The only time I call them uppity or arrogant is when they post about slaughter houses, as if I didn't already know about them. You do your diet your way, I'll do my diet my way, and we all live peacefully. You get up in my face about what I eat, I'm going to bring out the big guns.
I have no problem whatsoever with someone being vegetarian or vegan - it's their body, their genetics, their chemistry, and if it works for them and they are healthier on that kind of diet, great! My only problem is with the ones who will not return the courtesy.

Don't know their motivation, don't care about their motivation I just do not want to be preached at about my food choices or any statement I make in regards to Betsy being very tasty on the grill.
Some vegans and vegetarians (I'm a recent vegetarian) need a public relations lesson on not making a negative impression on others.
Other vegetarians usually ask how long I've been a vegetarian, asked in a way to show superiority. And a vegan called me a hypocrite for not eating meat by choice yet I'll have ranch dressing (which has egg and milk in it) with vegetables. Guess that makes me an animal hater!
I find some of them annoying. I couldn't care less what one eats or doesn't eat. And I'm pretty sure most people don't care either. I feel the same way about the "gluten-free" crowd.
Oftentimes I get the impression that some feel an inappropriate sense of superiority by making certain food choices. It's just food. We all know where it eventually ends up.
I don't think about it. I don't care what you eat. I'm not interested in what you eat or why you eat it. You eat what you want, I'll eat what I want.
If we go out to eat, you eat what you want, I'll order what I want. If you win the toss of the coin and pick a vegan restaurant, I'll find something I like on the menu. No problem.
If you come to my house to eat, you will remember that you are a guest. There will always be a variety of things on the menu, from meats, cooked veggies to fresh veggies, to fresh fruits and nuts. You can pick and choose. Don't like anything there, then don't eat. Again, remember you are a guest, open your mouth to criticize, you will be escorted to the front door, put outside and the door will be locked behind you. Bad guest- go away.
As long as they don't criticise my food choices I won't criticise theirs. But I do enjoy a good debate with a vegan if they are a close friend (so no fear of offending each other).
