The fact that WalMart pays low wages and then encourages employees to apply for Medicaid and Food Stamps indicates that their labor costs are being subsidized by taxpayers. If, as public policy, had a higher minimum wage, the taxpayer wouldn't be supporting WalMart employees.
Not as ridiculous as one would want.
