Jealousy? No. Making the poor poorer in the process of making yourself richer is not something to be jealous of.
But yes, it does anger me.
There is an interesting article in The New York Times about income inequality by Joseph Stiglitz. Can't link to it at the moment but it makes me wonder if the US will simply let income inequality continue to run amok until the middle class is destroyed.

The middle class and it's consumerist lifestyle...
The middle class and it's consumerist lifestyle...
Is destroying itself.
Don't blame the rich for your own purchases....
The whiners will not understand that. They seem to be unable to make the connection between their own purchases of luxury and unnecessary items, and their lack of wealth.

Once you learn and accept that YOU are the master of your destiny, and that YOU and YOU ALONE are responsible for changing your future and your fate, then you no longer have the mindset of a poor person.

Notice Obama has not stopped the truly rich. He is just a hinderance they found a way past. The poor say "I can't" and give up, the rich say "How can I" and keep on going. The only thing Obama has done is take advantage of the poor people's ignorance to go after the middle class.
As you wait and wait and wait for the great one to do something for you. You have already decided your own path in life, so keep waiting.

The middle class with the use of debt put themselves into the poor house. They try to look rich with all it's gadgets and luxuries and don't understand the simple concept that by doing so they are giving up freedom. They have essentially enslaved themselves and blaming others for their choice.
Middle class income has been falling since the '70s. It isn't a new problem or something endemic to Obama or the current Congress.
I have to wonder the wisdom of just saying, "Well, the middle class needs to pare down lifestyle expectations and stop spending so much." How would that affect the economy?
It recently came out that the average new car is officially out of reach for most middle class families. What kind of effect does that have on the economy?

How on earth is a new car out of reach? The average size of a middle class home is 240% larger today than it was 50 years ago, and the average spending on entertainment is up 6x from 50 years ago (as a percent of net income). The middle class lives it up more today than ever before in history.

A new car is an unnecessary luxury. The purchase of used cars, and the maintenance/repair of such because they don't have the long warranties, stimulates local economies.
