Nothing should change your mind......GMO FOOD IS BAD!!!!!!!
you do realize that food has been genetically modified over the centuries right? it may not have been done in a lab at the molecular level, but it has been done.

but it hasn't been genetically ENGINEERED, which is a more accurate term
genetic engineering is relatively new, within the last 25 years

i can go along with that. it is true that genetic engineering is in its infancy, where as genetic modification has been around since organized farming was created.
With that said, this is a call for biodiversity more than anything else. Monoculture can be devastating. If the oranges grown in Florida were "wild" there would be a few resistant plants worth gold.
There is biotechnology, and then there is Monsanto.
Monsanto is the evil.
Doing only the minimum to save something from a pest from the other side of the world I'd be fine with. The GMO stuff Monsanto does I'm fine staying away from.
understand that GE foods are going to be figured out, and we will know what genes to turn on, and what to turn off for better crop yields, and pest resistance, that will also produce safer foods for the people. unfortunately GE foods are getting a bad rap right now, and it will take some time for that to change.

The criticism is against genetically engineered food, problem is that many are calling it genetically modified.
Nothing wrong with hybrids and biodiversity that farmers have been doing for centuries, however that is not the same as splicing the genes of a fish with a fruit.

What about the genes of one plant into another plant?
What about the genes of one plant into another plant?
that is part of GMO that has been done for thousands of years. essentially splicing one plant with another to create a hybrid plant, for instance a tangelo= orange+tangerine. and there are numbers of examples that can be found.
